14-Month Well Baby Check-Up

This morning Kaylee had her 14-month pediatrician appointment.  The doctor was happy to see that Kaylee is growing, and said that whatever we are doing is working. In a little less than 2 months Kaylee has gained half a pound, and has grown over an inch in length. So she is 17 pounds, and almost 30 inches tall. Kaylee, on the other hand, was not too happy to see the nurse or the doctor.  She let everyone in the office know that she did not want to be there.  Her next appointment is around 18-months.
So what are we doing? Well, the biggest change was adding Ensure to Kaylee's milk. We do half Ensure and half milk. And in order to encourage Kaylee to eat more solid food, we don't offer milk until after the meal.
Some of Kaylee's favorite foods include: chow mein, mac n' cheese, lunch meat, cheese slices, apricot/peaches, meatballs, jamba juice, canned green beans, and anything that we are eating. Oh, I almost forgot, Kaylee's absolute favorite is french fries! I never thought I'd be feeding my daughter french fries, but she loves them.
As the Costco cart video showed, Kaylee is rather strong. She is really testing her physical skills. She is attempting, and being rather successful, at walking down the 2 stairs into the loft without assistance.  She still stumbles and trips over her own feet, but she is coming along very nicely.
Kaylee's vocabulary is also coming along. She can say ma ma, da da, cat, dog, book, duck, doll, ball, and milk. She tries to say bird and fish, and she has a ton of new baby babble. She knows the sign for milk, hat, fish, bye-bye, bird, all-done, and change. Many of her signs look the same. But it all depends on the context. For example her milk and bird sign are the same, but when were outside it means bird, and when she's fussy it usually means milk.  And she understands everything, so it is time for us to watch our language.
One of the sweetest things Kaylee does is rub our heads and play with our hair. Curtis doesn't have much hair so she rubs his head.  She also gives hugs and kisses.
Let's see, what else. Kaylee loves strollers. She always want to ride in one, even if it isn't hers. She is not a fan of bubbles, or anything that flies near her. Now that she faces forward in her car seat she sometimes demands to go bye-bye.
Well I will end this entry. I still need to recap the road trip, and I should try to do so before we leave for Texas on Monday.  Kaylee's first airplane ride should be interesting.
