Do you see all the space on the pillow next to you? That is your pillow, where you fell asleep last night. The next photo, the one with me in it, I'm half a foot away from the edge of the bed. Every night you never fail to make your way across the bed, to find me, to lean against me, to push me towards the edge. Every day as your mother you never fail to find me (often when I've snuck away to the bathroom), you lean against me (when you are frustrated, mad, sad, scared, happy, excited, energized, tired), and you always push me towards the edge (of my patience, energy, and resolve).
I hope and pray that you NEVER stop making your way across the bed to find me, to lean against me, and push me towards the edge. I will ALWAYS be here for you. In this life and the next. I will always be here to experience the joys and sorrows of life, and the excitement and the lull of every new day. I will always be here for you to share in your happiness, and for you to lean against me when you are tired or frustrated.
Always push me to the edge baby girl. You make me want to be a better person ... Well I pray every night to be a better person; more patient, more loving, more caring, and more energetic. I want to be a better person so that I can lead by example the life I hope for you to live, the person I hope for you to be. You are your own person, I recognize this, but I hope that you live a healthy and active lifestyle. That you appreciate nature, respect all people, and love animals. I hope that you recognize how important family is, that family time is a priority and to cherish your time with them. I hope that you surround yourself with good friends, good neighbors and coworkers. I hope that you continue to be my little patriot, that you know how lucky we are to live in a free country, and that freedom isn't truly free.
Always push me to the edge little girl. I want to make each day a day of joy for you, a day of wonder and learning. Keep asking me why, why, and why; how, how, and how. Keep telling me to, "Look it up Mommy." I hope your sense of wonder continues in your life, that it will push you to work hard, to learn more, to not give up, and when you fall, because you will, I hope you get back up and try again. All of these hopes and wishes I have for you are what pushes me to the edge every day. As your mother I am here to guide you, to show you, to lead you. Continue to push me towards the edge my love, because some day you won't need to make your way across the bed, you won't need to lean against me, you won't need to push me against the edge. When that happens I hope that I've done my very best to prepare you. And then, I hope that you will WANT to make your way across whatever distance separates us to lean against me, to share with me your success and failures, and to push me to be the best mother I can be for you. I love you baby girl, to double infinity and back.
